The difference
- A chatbot converses: asks and answers. If it makes a mistake, you read an error.
- A agent acts: uses tools, browses, writes code, sends emails, or makes purchases. If it makes a mistake, the error happens.
The three rules
- Minimum permissions: give it access only to what it needs for that task.
- Confirmation required before paying, sending, or deleting.
- Backups of everything it can touch, before starting.
Why now
- There have already been agents that deleted entire databases in seconds due to having too many permissions (we covered it in episode 5).
